After moving from Quebec to Colorado, ownership wanted to re-brand the team and change the Nordique nickname. However, due to a lot of backlash from the community, they decided to go with their second choice- Avalanche which was much more well received.

  • Who is the Colorado Avalanche’s rival?

There was not a better rivalry in sports than the Colorado Avalanche and the Detroit Red Wings in the mid 1990’s and early 2000’s due to many run ins in the Western Conference playoffs.
